Yusuf Iqbal, a reputable lawyer from Colaba, Mumbai, was flying back home First Class with Emirates airlines flight EK752 on the 27th of February, after celebrating his birthday in Morocco along with his wife and a few friends. To his shock and disgust, he finds a cockroach in his in-flight meal
Angered by this, he sends a legal notice to Emirates Airlines demanding a compensation of 87 lakhs Indian Rupees which is the equivalent of around $130,000. Although the lawyer insists it was a cockroach, the airline maintained that it was just a beetle.
The dreadful experience has left him with a fear of flying and he later skipped a work-related engagement that required air travel, missing out on “anticipated professional fees” of Rs 30 lakh, according to Iqbal’s legal notice to Emirates

Iqbal sent the legal notice last week after a “without prejudice or admission of liability” response from the airline “admitted” that it was a beetle and offered him 25,000 air miles “as a token of regret”. He maintains he saw a cockroach in his chicken salad.
